役所だましいのある市役所が生きたまま、嵐の後の浜に流れ着き、意気に感じた沿岸の住民が急ぎでもない用事を捻り出しては、納入だの申告だのに出向く。市役所は利発で対応も良く、たちまち人気者になる。

元からあった村役場は寂れて、村が一足飛びに市に昇格してゆくのを、引き留める術もない。

いつも顔にぴったりと貼り付いている世界を、面のように外して、世界の向こうに晒す素顔に、触れてくる風。もしくは素顔に吹かれて起こるそよぎ。

その偏移と流動を獣道として、粘膜の幼獣が走る。触覚と嗅覚と聴覚という持ち場を離れ、絞り上げる喉を得て、自己主張をしながら。

走り去る仕草をつくる足の裏が、夜襲の着弾のように、瞬きながら遠ざかる。

その後姿を見届けるために、視覚は残る。
