保育園でのことについて、いつも尋ねてみても気がない風で最低限のことしか話をしてくれないが、こちらにしてみれば何の脈絡も無いところでとつぜん園でのできごとを一所懸命はなしだすことが、たまにある。
このあいだ話しはじめたときには、ふだんあまり耳にしない子たちの名前が出てきた。それが、「シンスケ」「マサト」と、「くん」や「ちゃん」がうしろについていなかったのでちょっとびっくりした。その子たちは年上の子で、息子から話しかけることさえないににちがいないのに、なんとも偉そうに聞こえて、笑ってしまった。
いっしょうけんめい話してるうちにそうなってしまうのかと思ったが、その後また別のときに、「シンスケ」が出てきたので、その子にかぎっては、「シンスケくん」と言うのが息子には長すぎるのだろう、などと思った。それとも夫がいうように、みんなからも「シンスケ」と呼ばれてるいるのだろうか。
ちなみに、保育園での呼称は、親が指定したものがそのまま通っている。たぶん。すくなくともうちはそうだ。まだ子どもたちが独自に呼び名を考えだすことはないと思う。
と、こう書いているうちに心もとなくなった。年中、年長の男の子をみているとずいぶん大きく見え、あだ名なんてたやすく考えだしそうだ。シンスケくんはじっさい何て呼ばれているのか、今度先生にきいてみよう。
とつぜんといえば、
「かえるは、あおむしがちょうちょになったこと知らないんだよ」
と、ほんとうに脈絡なく話しはじめたこともあった。園で読んだ絵本かなにかだろうか。
ひるまずに何とか相手をしているうち、オタマジャクシで水中にいたころに青虫が蝶になってしまったのでカエルはその変化を知らない、あるいは、オタマジャクシのときにたしかに見ていたが、カエルになって忘れてしまった、ということになった。その話は気に入っているようで、寝るとき、いつもとは反対にお話してくれた。四者にかんするお話が、少しずつ内容を変えて繰り返された。
